New York City beaches officially closed Labor Day. Life guards are no longer on duty.
It is the City’s position that the beaches are officially closed for swimming and that one swims at his own risk.
Swimming without life guards is very dangerous. This is especially so in that killer there are killer riptides caused by Hurricane Hanna.
Although it is still warm, parents should not allow their children to swim. Young adults should not take the risk.
