Getting a Recovery for a Snow and Ice Accident when Entering and Exiting a Bus

People entering and leaving a bus must be careful when it is snowing.  Often, passengers drag snow and ice onto the bus steps.

If you have been injured in a bus accident, please call me at 800-851-1434.

The New York City Tranist Authority or private bus company has the obligation to keep the steps clear.  That means that the bus driver must clear the steps from time to time.  However, in the event of a slip and fall on the stairs, NYCTA will claim that its driver  had no “notice” of the icing condition.

The bus company’s obligation to keep its bus steps clear is separate from the keeping the sidewalk, curb, and road clear of snow and ice.  That responsibility might belong to either the City or a private property owner.

Falls on bus steps are difficult, but not impossible cases.

If you have been injured, please feel free to call me at 800-581-1434.
