I shot an arrow in the air
It fell to earth I know not where,
On last Sunday a woman in the Bronx was struck by a stray arrow. She was dropping-off elderly friends after attending Sunday church services. She was dropping-off the ladies across the street from the Henry Hudson Park in Bronx, New York.
The woman was helping an elderly friend, and suddenly she was shot in the stomach with a stray arrow. She was shocked to find an arrow was sticking out of her belly. She was rushed to the hospital and had to admitted for a few days. Fortunately, the woman will survive.
The person who shot the arrow is unknown. The police think that the archer was practicing in the park. He has escaped into the woods.
If the archer is ever found, he will be liable for the injuries to the innocent lady. An archer will be liable where he engages in a dangerous activity in an inappropriate place. For example, practicing archery in a public park is an inappropriate and dangerous place. A public park in New York City is not proper place for target practice.
Similarly, a public park is not the place to engage in target practice with a rifle. A person engaging in a dangerous recreational activity will be liable if he chooses to practice his sport at the wrong time and the wrong place.
If you have been injured by a recreational activity, please call me at 800-581-1434.
